Our mission is to BE better. Every day, we work on this by cultivating a culture that believes in meaningful education for all. We strive for visible learning that transfers to support the individual in meeting their personal goals. Perception, Connection, and Change are the principles we continually examine to curate learning goals and develop a greater understanding of our world.

All injuries and accidents are documented by staff. Before documentation occurs, the staff is directed to always tend to your child’s safety/injury first. Parents will be notified through an incident report form and/or a phone call if necessary. In emergencies, we will follow the Emergency Form you have filled out in SchoolCues.
Benedicite will seek medical treatment for your child (if deemed an extreme emergency) and contact the listed Emergency contacts. Benedicite is not financially responsible for medical treatment.

Benedicite teaches about healthy habits and models appropriate food choices. If your child wishes to bring a snack to school, we recommend sending a fruit, vegetable, or other healthy choice. Water is always available to the children throughout their day. All students should bring their own lunch and water bottle to school. Please pack however much food your child will need throughout the day.
Our Elementary Wing is nut-free. Foods that contain nuts are not allowed in that wing or at lunch.

Dress Recommendation
Since not every aspect of a dress code can be written, the following list has been prepared for general guidelines and personal items that are not considered appropriate for the learning environment:
- Halters, tube tops, or any top that does not cover the stomach or chest
- Shorts or skirts worn above mid-thigh
- Pants worn in a way in which underwear can be seen
- Clothing with inappropriate (such as drug/alcohol-related) text or graphics
- Any attire that will draw undue attention to the learner in a negative manner
If a learning guide/staff member feels that a learner’s attire is inappropriate, parents will be contacted to discuss dress recommendations and/or asked to pick up their child. A BE Spirit store will be available to show your BE pride!
Birthdays
Benedicite understands birthdays are special, and we would like to celebrate with your child in a meaningful way. You are welcome to bring a snack or treat for your child to share with their class. Please check with your child’s teacher to determine any allergies in the classroom.
Holiday Class Parties
Parties are planned on a per-class basis. Your child’s Learning Guide will notify you if and when help is needed.
School Events
At the time of enrollment, you will receive a list of events throughout the school year. Upcoming events are also in the monthly newsletter and on the SchoolCues calendar.
Staff
Benedicite employs teachers from multiple backgrounds. This includes certified teachers, Montessori-trained teachers, and other business professionals. The staff participates in multiple professional development and staff meetings/trainings. We understand the importance of collaboration, and we work as a learning team to best support our families.
Volunteers
We love for our parents and grandparents to be involved in their child’s school. It helps us create a warm and family-like environment. However, the children’s safety is important to us. If interested in volunteering, you will be required to complete a background check before attending.
Communication
We believe no one understands your child better than you and value your input about your child. Ongoing communication between home and school is a must for your child’s education to be successful. Yet, instructional time and pick up or drop off are not preferred times to meet with Learning Guides. Please, set up an appointment with staff to discuss your child in detail. Parents will receive notes, communication through email, family conferences, and info on Family Ed Nights. Please email non-specific classroom questions to admin@benedicite.net. Class-specific information will be coming from your child’s individual teacher. You must be enrolled in School Cues to receive all announcements.
Natural Disasters
All Natural Disaster procedures are posted throughout the facility and practiced throughout the year.
Authorized Child – Release
Children will only be released to a parent or guardian. To add an additional authorized person for pickup, you must complete an Authorized Child-Release Form in SchoolCues. If an individual other than a parent is picking up the child, they must show their driver’s license. Staff must be notified before dismissal time if an authorized person will be picking up your child.
Smoking/Vaping
Benedicite has a no-smoking and no-vaping policy at the school and on the school grounds.
Weapons
No weapons are allowed on the school premises.
Personal Belongings
Every child will have their own space to keep their belongings. Please keep an extra pair of clothes in a large Ziploc bag in your child’s book bag (for example, socks, shirt, pants, etc.). Your child should not bring personal items (for example, toys, etc.) to school. Benedicite is not responsible for lost or broken items or clothing. In the winter months, gloves, boots, hats, etc., are expected to participate in outside learning. Your child may leave rain boots at school as well. Please remember to label all items with your child’s name.
Lost & Found
There is a lost and found box in the lobby at the church. Admin will randomly post on the BE Family Facebook page any items that are lingering in the Lost and Found to be claimed.
Mandated Reporters
If any staff member suspects that a child is in danger emotionally or physically, they are to follow the Mandated Guidelines.
Custody
In the event of parental/guardian separation, we require legal documentation which clearly states custodial arrangements.
